ABECS would open this fall with K-4 and then add one grade per year.

Opponents say the proposal is riddled with problems, noting that numerous individuals and businesses previously listed as supporters have withdrawn their support upon becoming better acquainted with the proposal.

About 100 people came to the hearing, which lasted just over two hours.
