A state award honoring public-private partnerships has been presented to efforts to bring Marcellus Shale-related and other new uses to refinery sites in eastern Pennsylvania, according to a news release.

The inaugural C. Alan Walker Award for Public-Private Partnership went to the Delaware County Council, and Marcus Hook and Trainer boroughs, the release stated.

Their work supported state efforts to secure new uses for the sites and hundreds of jobs, according to the state Department of Community and Economic Development.

Results include a pipeline project to ship ethane and propane in from western Pennsylvania and an Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines Inc. subsidiary producing jet fuel, DCED said.

The award is named for the current DCED secretary, who has worked in both the private and public sectors, the release stated.
