The residential real estate market in York County started off on the right foot in 2013.

There were 240 home sales in January, a 9 percent increase from the first month of 2012, according to the Realtors Association of York and Adams Counties.

Dallastown Area School District saw the most sales with 32, the association said. That was a 39 percent increase from 2012.

West Shore and Southern York County saw their sales double in January — 8 and 14, respectively — compared with last January, the association said.

The median sale price in the county was $139,900, a 2 percent increase from 2012.

York County's real estate market has battled in recent years with a high level of foreclosures. The county reported a 10.6 percent sales increase in 2012 compared with 2011.
