Decreased production of Bradley Fighting Vehicles, Hercules Heavy Recovery Vehicles and Medium Mine Protected Vehicles are largely responsible for the workforce cuts, BAE said in a statement. Other factors include reduced engineering and prototyping work.
The decision is not connected to Congressional sequestration talks in Washington, D.C., BAE spokesman Randy Coble said in an email. BAE’s West Manchester Township facility employs 1,260 people.
The company will provide advanced notice of the layoffs and assistance to its workers, including severance benefits and opportunities to apply for positions within BAE’s larger group of companies.
