Surveying firm LW Survey Co. has relocated its Mid-Atlantic regional office from the Scranton area to Lancaster County, regional manager Jack Turpin said.

The office, which opened Monday, is at 1725A Oregon Pike in Manheim Township. It will be home to five employees, Turpin said.

Duluth, Minn.-based LW Survey Co. specializes in surveying and engineering work for the energy and communications industries, particularly pipelines. It moved the branch to take advantage of the Lancaster area's greater convenience as a transportation hub, Turpin said.

The minority-owned company has been involved in Marcellus Shale-related work for several years, Turpin said. Analysts see continued growth ahead for the midstream industry in the Marcellus region as companies build out the pipeline infrastructure needed to bring shale gas to market.
