McCormack, 60, has been with the association for 32 years and became its leader in 1992, spokesman Michael Wishnow said. Previously, he worked at CUNA Mutual Group, a provider of insurance and other financial services to credit unions and their members, at its Pittsburgh office and Madison, Wis., headquarters.

The association will conduct a national search for McCormack's replacement, utilizing Alabama-based consulting firm Dollar Associates. McCormack will remain a consultant to the association's board through November 2014, the association said.

Based just north of Harrisburg in Susquehanna Township, the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association represents the state's more than 500 credit unions, which serve more than 3.6 million members.
