Seasonally adjusted unemployment rates in midstate metropolitan statistical areas either went up or did not change in December compared with November, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry.

The Lancaster and Lebanon metropolitan statistical areas each rose one-tenth of a percentage point to 6.7 percent in December.

The Harrisburg-Carlisle and York-Hanover areas were unchanged at 7.2 percent and 7.6 percent, respectively.

Scranton-Wilkes-Barre had the worst rate at 9.5 percent, and State College had the best at 5.7 percent, according to the department.
