Derry Township-based Pennsylvania American Water Co. last week kicked off the application period for its 2013 Stream of Learning scholarship program, which provides college scholarship assistance to those who are planning to pursue careers in the water and wastewater industry.

Pennsylvania American Water will award scholarships of $2,000 each to 10 students.

Those students must:

• Live in one of the company's service areas

• Plan to attend a two- or four-year college or technical school, and

• Study environmental science, environmental engineering, biology or chemistry.

Applications are available at www.pennsylvaniaamwater.com. They must be postmarked by Feb. 28. Awards will be announced in May.
