The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s 511 system, 511PA, provides traffic-delay warnings, weather forecasts and other information, the release from PennDOT stated.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission’s Roadway Information Program, or TRIP, also provides traffic and weather information, according to the release.

Gov. Tom Corbett last year signed the Public and Private Partnerships for Transportation Act, which authorized these so-called P3 projects in the state, the release stated.

Also, the Pennsylvania Public Private Transportation Partnership Board was appointed as part of the law, according to the release.

The P3 board also approved soliciting proposals for a host of other functions, the release stated.
