A recently released population estimate from the U.S. Census Bureau says Pennsylvania is continuing to grow slowly.

There was a 0.2 percent uptick in the year-over-year comparison, bringing Pennsylvania’s estimated population to 12,763,536, according to the Pennsylvania State Data Center.

The numbers from the bureau were for estimated population growth across the states in the year between the middle of 2011 and the middle of this year, according to a census news release.

North Dakota registered the largest percentage increase during the period at 2.17 percent, the release stated.

The estimated growth for the commonwealth was fewer than 20,000 people, but it remains the state with the sixth-largest population in the country, according to the center.
