McCorkle, who informed the HSDC board of her intentions in September, has been the society’s executive director since 2005. She anticipates stepping down in February or March, depending on when her successor is hired.
Prior to joining HSDC, McCorkle served as CEO of YWCA of Greater Harrisburg from 1998 to 2004, and also worked as an administrator and teacher at the Harrisburg Academy for 13 years.
HSDC’s trustees have posted a listing of the position, which includes overseeing the nonprofit’s three main programs: The John Harris-Simon Cameron Mansion, the Alexander Family Research Library and the society’s archives.
