But the department store business, with corporate offices in York County and Milwaukee, said that its post-Thanksgiving results were ahead of last year and reported Hurricane Sandy negatively impacted sales at the beginning of the period.
Overall, the retailer reported a 0.1 percent comparable-store sales decrease and a 0.8 percent total sales decline during its four-week November timeframe, according to a news release.
Total sales were $301.3 million compared with $303.6 million in the comparable period last year, according to the release.
Total sales for the company’s year so far remain slightly higher at more than $2.2 billion, up about $600,000 compared with the year-ago timeframe.
The Bon-Ton Stores operates 273 department stores, including 11 furniture galleries, in 24 states under the Bon-Ton and other nameplates.
