The money from the general operating support program has been awarded in the form of grants to museums with annual operating budgets of $500,000 or more, according to a news release.
Recipients named from the midstate include the Cumberland County Historical Society, which was awarded $5,588, and the York County Heritage Trust, which was awarded $9,191.
In Dauphin County, the Antique Automobile Club of America Museum was awarded $13,620; The M.S. Hershey Foundation and The Hershey Story were awarded $11,891; The National Civil War Museum was awarded $29,861; and Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts was awarded $38,838.
In Lancaster County, Hands-on House, Children's Museum of Lancaster was awarded $5,551; LancasterHistory.org was awarded $10,874; National Watch & Clock Museum was awarded $6,121; and North Museum of Natural History & Science was awarded $6,849.
