Ahold USA, the parent of Cumberland County-based Giant Food Stores, made the list of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's top 50 largest green-power purchasing companies and ranks in the top 10 of its retailers list.

The EPA's rankings of green power purchases put Ahold USA at No. 29 on the National Top 50 list for its annual purchase of 149 million kilowatt-hours from green power sources including wind, solar, geothermal, biogas, biomass and low-impact hydro-electric, according to the agency. Ahold USA placed No. 8 on the EPA's list of the Top 20 Retail list.

Ahold USA, based in Middlesex Township and Quincy, Mass., is a division of Dutch grocery giant Royal Ahold.
