Harrisburg-based Mid Atlantic BX, a regional trade association that tracks construction projects, will celebrate the addition of the 100,000th project to its online plan room today.

The project, designed by Harrisburg-based EI Associates, is for additions and alterations to two Carlisle Area School District middle schools — Lamberton and Wilson — with an estimated cost of about $37 million.

A news conference will be held at 1 p.m. at the architecture firm’s North Front Street office in Harrisburg.

Mid Atlantic BX launched its online plan room services in 1998. Since becoming Mid Atlantic BX in 2006, the former Harrisburg Builders Exchange has added more than 83,000 projects to its online plan room.

Since 2008, the association has reported an average of almost 13,500 projects annually. The trade group tracks public and private projects from sources in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland.

Public school construction projects like the Carlisle improvements have been a major contributor to the recovering construction economy throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, the association said.

In the first six months of the year, more than 1,700 educational projects have been reported.

EI Associates, a specialist in educational architecture, has designed more than 80 new educational facilities since 1985. In the past 20 years, the firm has completed more than $3 billion in school construction.
